The price of local government in 2017: City of Northlake

The City of Northlake budget was $32.36 million for its 2017 fiscal year, or $9,114 per household.

That's an increase of 33.7 percent from 2016, when the city spent $24.19 million, or $6,815 per household.

Northlake has 3,550 households and a population of 12,364.

Since 2001, the City of Northlake budget has grown by 34.3 percent, from $24.09 million. The city population has grown 3.9 percent over the same period, from 11,900.

Salaries accounted for 20.4 percent of city spending in 2017. Northlake property taxpayers paid $6.58 million for 90 full-time employees and 29 part-time employees.

In 2001, the city had 76 full-time employees and 19 part-time employees, and spent $5.19 million.
