ADVENTIST LA GRANGE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL: AMITA Health Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center Reaccredited as A Chest Pain Center

Chestpain

Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital issued the following announcement on March 2.

AMITA Health Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center was recently reaccredited with Chest Pain Center Accreditation with Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) by the American College of Cardiology (ACC), demonstrating the organization’s expertise and commitment to treating patients with chest pain. The reaccreditation is awarded based on a rigorous onsite evaluation of the staff’s ability to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients who may be experiencing a heart attack.

Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is also known as coronary angioplasty. It is a non-surgical procedure that opens narrowed or blocked coronary arteries with a balloon to relieve symptoms of heart disease or reduce heart damage during or after a heart attack.

“We are committed to delivering the highest quality heart care to the communities we serve across Chicago,” said Martin Judd, president and CEO of AMITA Health Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center. “I’m proud of our multidisciplinary team that’s worked hard to ensure we are recognized for the exceptional care we continue to provide to our patients.”

Hospitals that have earned ACC Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI Accreditation have proven exceptional competency in treating patients with heart attack symptoms and have primary PCI available 24/7 every day of the year. As required to meet the criteria of the accreditation designation, they have streamlined their systems from admission to evaluation to diagnosis and treatment all the way through to appropriate post-discharge care and recommendations and assistance in patient lifestyle changes.

AMITA Health Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center is a multi-campus, 495 bed community teaching hospital on Chicago’s West Side. The Leapfrog Group named the medical center a Top Teaching Hospital for 2018 and has been awarded 11 consecutive ‘A’s for patient safety. In 2019, the facility was the only hospital in Chicago awarded 5 stars from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for providing safe, high quality care to patients.
