The Village of Western Springs has launched a public survey as part of its Safe Travel to School Plan, encouraging local residents to contribute their thoughts and experiences. This initiative is designed to enhance safety for students commuting to school by walking, biking, or rolling.
The purpose of this survey is to gather insights from various community members. "Gathering insights from the public is an important step in the planning process," a spokesperson for the Village stated. They emphasized that the feedback will play a fundamental role in the development of the plan, aiming to make Western Springs "a safer, more accessible, and more connected place for students and families."
The survey is seeking input from students, parents, residents, and business owners in Western Springs. Community members are invited to share their thoughts, concerns, and suggestions about improving student safety. It was noted that safe streets for children benefit everyone, thus all residents are encouraged to participate. Further opportunities for involvement will also be offered throughout summer and fall, with updates available on the Village's website and social media channels.
The survey will remain accessible online until May 26, 2025. Resident participation is vital for creating a plan that truly represents the needs of the community and its students.
In addition to the survey, an interactive mapping tool is provided for residents to pinpoint specific areas for comments. Using the "Add Point" feature, users can input location details and categorize their feedback effectively.
