Village of North Riverside Board of Trustees met June 18.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

Mayor Hermanek called the meeting to order with a Pledge of Allegiance and a Roll Call. In attendance were Trustee Bianco, Trustee Czajka, Trustee Demopoulos, Trustee Flores, Trustee Mengoni and Trustee Sarro.

Others in attendance were Administrator Belmonte, Attorney Hayes, Police Chief Garcia, Recreation Director Mrozik, Public Director Kutt and Fire Chief Gaertner.

Approval Of Agenda

Trustee Bianco moved seconded by Trustee Mengoni to approve revised agenda for this meeting as presented. Roll Call Vote:

Ayes: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Demopoulos, Flores, Mengoni, Sarro

Nays: None. Motion carried

Bids- None

Cash Receipt Report

Trustee Mengoni moved and Trustee Bianco seconded to accept the Cash Receipt Report for the month of May, 2018 as presented in the amount of $2,251,984.91. Roll Call Vote:

Ayes: Trustees Bianco. Czajka, Demopoulos, Flores, Mengoni, Sarro

Nays: None. Motion carried

Approval Of Minutes

Trustee Czajka moved, seconded by Trustee Demopoulos to approve the June 4, 2018 Village

Board Meeting Minutes as presented. Roll Call Vote:

Ayes: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Demopoulos, Flores, Mengoni, Sarro

Nays: None. Motion carried

Report Of Trustees

Trustee Bianco- ( Water, Sewers, Drainage & Zoning)

Trustee Bianco submitted the Brookfield North Riverside Water Commission Meeting Minutes from the May 9, 2018 meeting to the Clerk’s Office.

Trustee Czajka- (Judiciary, Ordinances, Recreation)

Trustee Czajka read the following report from the Recreation Department:

Day Camp is now underway with 254 campers partaking in the summer fun. We still have limited availability for children entering 1st through 8th grade this fall. If interested, please inquire at the recreation office.

Please join us for the Thursday Sounds of Summer Concert Series beginning this week on June 21st. Concerts will be held from 7pm to 9pm in the rear parking lot of Village Commons. In the case of inclement weather, concerts will be held in the gymnasium. So join your neighbors for live music and great concession deals on Thursdays this summer. Please remember that no outside food or drink is allowed. All concessions purchases enable us to keep the Sounds of Summer going. Hope to see you then.

Trustee Demopoulos( Streets, Alleys, Sidewalks & Garbage- No report

Trustee Flores- ( Police, Fire & License)

Trustee Flores called a committee meeting for July 16th at 6:00 pm.

Trustee Flores read the following memo:

Tonight the Village Attorney will bring up for passage an ordinance and a resolution both of which pertain to the Police Department. The ordinance will cover the sale of 12-weapons which are surplus property and no longer necessary or useful to the Village and the best interest of the Village will be served by their sale.

The resolution will cover approving an amended mutual aid agreement with the Northern Illinois Police Alarm system, NIPAS, which the Village has been a part of for many years. Police

Chief Garcia is supportive of both of these issues. Attorney Hayes will cover both of these later in the meeting

Trustee Mengoni- ( Finance Health & Appropriations)- No report

Trustee Sarro- (Public Buildings, Grounds, lights, Transportation, Plan Commission)-No report

Mayoral Report

Mayor Hermanek reminded residents that there will be only one meeting for the months of July and August. He also thanked all those that attended the Mayors Golf Outing this year. Over $500.000 has been given to North Riverside students since the inception of this event.

Keep an eye out for the village Newsletter arriving on your doorsteps soon. This issue will have all the details of the July 4th festivities. Riverside County Club will once again have fireworks starting at 9pm and all North Riverside residents are invited to attend.

Correspondence

• Nick Mascitti sent a thank you letter to the Youth Scholarship Committee.

• Thank you card from the family of John O’Rourke.

Approval Of Bills

Trustee Mengoni moved, seconded by Trustee Flores to approve the list of bills submitted for this meeting totaling $533,295.63 and to have them paid out of proper funds when such funds become available. Roll Call Vote:

Ayes: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Demopoulos, Flores, Mengoni, Sarro

Nays: None. Motion carried

Ordinances And Resolutions

Trustee Flores moved and Trustee Sarro seconded to Approve an Ordinance Authorizing the Sale of Village Personal Property by the Village of North Riverside (18-O-04) and to waive the reading.

Roll Call Vote:

Ayes: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Demopoulos, Flores, Mengoni, Sarro

Nays: None. Motion carried

Ordinances And Resolutions (continued)

Trustee Flores moved and Trustee Sarro seconded to approve a Resolution Approving an Amended Mutual Aid Agreement with the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System (18-R-04) and to waive the reading Roll Call Vote:

Nays: None. Motion carried

Trustee Bianco congratulated Mayor Hermanek as he has been elected as the new President of WCMC.

Trustee Czajka moved and Trustee Demopoulos seconded for adjournment of this meeting at 7:15 pm. Motion carried unanimously.
