Seven Fenwick High School students achieved the highest possible score on the American College Test (ACT).
Those earning the maximum score of 36 are Spencer Gallagher of Elmhurst, class of 2019; Susan Zeh of River Forest, class of 2019; Tommy Bartecki of Hinsdale and Jack Vomacka of Riverside, who plan to attend the University of Southern California; and Martin Dawson of Chicago, Jamie Heneghan of Hinsdale and Nora O’Connor of Riverside, who plan to attend the University of Notre Dame, according to a school announcement.
ACT is one of several standardized examinations used for admission to United States colleges.
“On a typical national test date, more than one million students sit for the ACT,” Richard Borsch, Fenwick’s associate principal and director of student services, said in the release. “Perhaps a bit over or under 1,000 will score a perfect 36. For one school to have five seniors and two juniors who attained perfection is a compliment to both their academic preparation and their innate ability.”
