Village of Forest Park City Council met January 8.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

Mayor Calderone led all assembled in the Pledge of Allegiance at 7:00 p.m.

Roll Call:

Commissioners Byrnes, Mannix, Novak and Mayor Calderone answered the Roll Call. Commissioner Entler was absent due to work-related matters.

Approval Of The Minutes Of Previous Meetings:

It was moved by Commissioner Mannix and seconded by Commissioner Novak that the minutes from the December 18, 2017, Tax Levy Public Hearing be approved without reading as each member has received a copy thereof and found same to be correct.

Roll Call:

Ayes: Commissioners Byrnes, Mannix, Novak And Mayor Calderone

Nays: None

Absent: Commissioner Entler The motion carried.

It was moved by Commissioner Mannix and seconded by Commissioner Novak that the minutes from the December 18, 2017, Regular Meeting of the Village Council be approved without reading as each member has received a copy thereof and found same to be correct.

Roll Call:

Ayes: Commissioners Byrnes, Mannix, Novak And Mayor Calderone

Nays: None

Absent: Commissioner Entler The motion carried.

It was moved by Commissioner Mannix and seconded by Commissioner Novak that the minutes from the December 18, 2017, Closed Session Meeting of the Village Council be approved without reading as each member has received a copy thereof and found same to be correct.

Roll Call:

Ayes: Commissioners Byrnes, Mannix, Novak And Mayor Calderone

Nays: None

Absent: Commissioner Entler The motion carried.

Public Comment

Department Reports:

None

Approval Of Bills:

It was moved by Commissioner Mannix and seconded by Commissioner Byrnes that the Resolution for the payment of bills be adopted. The Commissioner of Accounts and Finance has reviewed the bills as applicable to each department and found the aggregate amounts to be correct and recommends Payment when funds are available. The bills totaled $838,422.29.

Ayes: Commissioners Byrnes, Mannix, Novak And Mayor Calderone

Nays: None

Absent: Commissioner Entler The motion carried.

Unfinished Business:

Mayor Calderone reported on the status of the Cultural Park. He reported that he is waiting to hear from the National Park Service to schedule a meeting. He should have more to report at the January 22 Council meeting.

New Business:

It was moved by Commissioner Mannix and seconded by Commissioner Novak that the Resolution authorizing the execution of an independent contractor agreement with Muse Community & Design for planning services be adopted.

Ayes: Commissioners Byrnes, Mannix, Novak And Mayor Calderone

Nays: None

Absent: Commissioner Entler The motion carried.

It was moved by Commissioner Mannix and seconded by Commissioner Byrnes to appoint Mr. David Show and to reappoint Mr. Steve Hinton to the Forest Park Board of Fire and Police Commissioners. Mr. Show was present and Mayor Calderone acknowledged him and thanked him for his willingness to serve the community in this capacity.

Nays: None

Absent: Commissioner Entler The motion carried.

It was moved by Commissioner Mannix and seconded by Commissioner Byrnes that the Resolution authorizing the waiver of the hiring freeze for IMRF employees regarding the hiring of a Community Center Custodian be adopted

Roll Call:

Ayes: Commissioners Byrnes, Mannix, Novak And Mayor Calderone

Nays: None

Absent: Commissioner Entler The Motion Carried.

Administrator’s Report:

None

Commissioner’s Reports:

Commissioner Novak expressed his appreciation to the staff at the Water Department and Public Works for having to leave their families over the holidays to work on broken water mains at multiple locations.

Mayor Calderone wished all a Happy New Year and stated he is looking forward to 2018.

Adjournment:

There being no further business to be addressed, Commissioner Mannix moved and Commissioner Byrnes seconded to adjourn the meeting. The motion carried.

Mayor Calderone declared the meeting adjourned at 7:11 p.m.
