City of Northlake City Council met August 14.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

The regular meeting was called to order at 7:09 p.m. Mayor Sherwin asked everyone to stand for the pledge of allegiance. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Roll Call:

Present: Alderman Straube, Feldmann, Contreras, Werba, Gonzalez, Grochowski And Patti

Absent: Alderman Padilla

Fred Paul, Treasurer

Mark Sterk, City Attorney

Others Present: Carol Lampard, Finance Director

Nancy Pauletto, City Clerk

Norm Nissen Chief Of Police

Dale Roberts, Public Works Director

Mayor Sherwin presented the minutes of the regular meeting held on July 10, 2017. Alderman Patti made a motion to accept the minutes of the regular meeting held July 10, 2017; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin asked if there were any additions or corrections. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor. Alderman Feldmann abstained.

Motion To Accept The Minutes Of The July 10, 2017 City Council Meeting Carried

Alderman Patti made a motion to re-appoint Rich Chillemi to the Community Events and Affairs Commission; seconded by Alderman Werba. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Roll Call: Alderman Straube, Feldmann, Contreras, Werba, Gonzalez, Grochowski And Patti

Absent: Alderman Padilla

Nays: None

Motion To Re-Appoint Rich Chillemi To The Community Events And Affairs Commission Carried

Alderman Patti made a motion to pay the warrants and vouchers if and when the funds become available; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Absent: Alderman Padilla

Motion To Pay The Warrants And Vouchers Carried

Mayor Sherwin said that the sugar/pop tax is gone into effect and sales are down at Walmart and Jewel in Franklin Park.

The next City Council meeting will be September 11, 2017. We will go back to our regular schedule of 2 meetings a month starting in October.

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve Resolution R-11-2017; seconded by Alderman Contreras. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Motion To Approve Resolution R-11-2017; A Resolution Approving The Submittal Of The Stp Project Application (Fy2018) For The Resurfacing Of Wolf Road Funded Through The North Central Council Of Mayors And The Certification Of Matching Funds In The Amount Of $72,377.00 Carried

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve Resolution R-12-2017; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Motion To Approve Resolution R-12-2017; A Resolution Relating To Participation By Elected Officials In The Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund Carried

Alderman Patti made a motion to close the PPO Insurance to future enrollments; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Motion To Close The Ppo Insurance To Future Enrollments Carried

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve the purchase of 50 light poles fabricated by Phoenix Welding; seconded by Alderman Contreras. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Motion To Approve Ordinance O-15-2017; An Ordinance Approving A Plat Of Subdivision For The Property Commonly Known As 11700-11720 Grand Avenue In The City Of Northlake, Cook County, Illinois Carried

Alderman Contreras made a motion to approve Ordinance O-14-2017; seconded by Alderman Feldmann. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Motion To Approve Ordinance O-14-2017; An Ordinance Rezoning The Property Commonly Known As 5 North Prater Avenue, Northlake, Cook County, Illinois Carried

Mayor Sherwin said that Alejandra’s wants to change their license to 2 am Sunday – Thursday and 3 am on Friday and Saturday. The kitchen will stay open to serve food. The board will take this into consideration and perhaps do a provisional license for 6 months. Alejandra’s will be asked to come to the next City Council meeting to have a discussion.

A resident asked about the new senior building on North Ave. Mayor Sherwin said that they have an application pending with the Illinois Housing Authority.

There being no further business, Alderman Straube made a motion to adjourn; seconded by Alderman Gonzalez. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.
