The calls in Hillside included 54 fires - 36 structure fires, eight vehicle fires and 10 other fires.
In all, the department saw $208,510 in fire loss - or about $3,861 per fire.
The department also received 165 false calls, including five malicious calls and 160 other false calls.
One fire service member was injured in non fire-related incidents.
The Hillside Firefighters' Pension Fund, which has 20 active employees and 19 retired or inactive employees, was $1,094,101 in debt as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $20,261 for every fire in 2016.
