North Riverside trustees review issued residential permits

The village of North Riverside Board of Trustees met Jan. 3 to review issued residential permits.

Here are the meeting's minutes, as provided by the board:

VILLAGE OF NORTH RIVERSIDE 

BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING JANUARY 3, 2017

COUNCIL ROOM 7:00 PM

Mayor Hermanek called the meeting to order with a Pledge of Allegiance and a Roll Call. In attendance were Trustee Bianco, Trustee Czajka, Trustee Decosola, Trustee Mengoni and Trustee Wilt. Trustee Demopoulos was absent.

Others in attendance were Attorney Hayes, Administrator Belmonte, Finance Director Scarpiniti, Police Chief Niemann, Public Works Director Kutt, Recreation Director Michalik and Fire Chief Basek.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA

Trustee Mengoni moved seconded by Trustee Czajka to approve the revised agenda for this meeting. Roll Call Vote:

AYES: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Decosola, Mengoni, Wilt 

NAYS: None. Motion carried 

ABSENT: Trustee Demopoulos

BIDS- None

CASH RECEIPT REPORT

Trustee Wilt moved and Trustee Mengoni seconded to approve the Cash Receipt Report for the month of October, 2016 totaling $4,347,915.51 Roll Call Vote:

AYES: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Decosola, Mengoni, Wilt 

NAYS: None. Motion carried 

ABSENT: Trustee Demopoulos

APPOVAL OF MINUTES

Trustee Mengoni moved, seconded by Trustee Bianco to approve the December 12, 2016 Village Board Meeting Minutes as presented. Roll Call Vote:

AYES: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Decosola, Mengoni, Wilt 

NAYS: None. Motion carried 

ABSENT: Trustee Demopoulos

REPORT OF TRUSTEES

Trustee Bianco- (Streets, Alleys, Sidewalks & Refuse)- No report

Trustee Czajka-(Buildings, Public grounds, lights, Public Services & Transportation)- No report

Trustee Decosola- ( Judiciary, Ordinances, Recreation)- No report

Trustee Demopoulos( Water, Sewers, Drainage & Zoning)-Absent

Trustee Mengoni- ( Police, Fire & License)

Trustee Mengoni submitted the Fire and EMS call for the month of December 2016 with the Clerk’s Office as follows:

Trustee Wilt ( Finance, Health & Appropriations)-No report

MAYORAL REPORT

Mayor Hermanek read the following updates from the Community Development Department:

- Presales- The Community Development Department performed four single-family and one multi-family presale inspection totaling $2,082.50 in revenue.

- Permit Totals-The Community Development Department issued 23 residential and commercial permits totaling $7,357.40 in revenue.

- Raising Cane’s- The Community Development Department has issued a temporary Certificate of Occupancy to Raising Cane’s for the purpose of training employees for the new retail food establishment. All interior work has been completed with the landscaping and irrigation system to be installed in the spring. The Grand Opening for the facility is currently scheduled for January 31st.

Mayor Hermanek thanked the North Riverside Police Department and Chief Niemann for an outstanding job during the incident at the Burlington Coat Department Store.

CORRESPONDENCE

- Wilma Pecka sent a thank you card to the Mayor and Board for the Christmas tree given to her through the Neighborhood Services Committee.

- Thank you card from the Cashin Family

- Thank you card from the Gulbinas Family

- Carol Spale sent a thank you note addressed to the Mayor and Board and she thanked them for once again funding the Christmas Tree Program through the Neighborhood Services Committee.

APPROVAL OF BILLS

Trustee Wilt moved, seconded by Trustee Mengoni to approve the list of bills submitted for this meeting totaling $290,802.24 and to have them paid out of proper funds when such funds become available. Roll Call Vote:

AYES: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Decosola, Mengoni, Wilt 

NAYS: None. Motion carried 

ABSENT: Trustee Demopoulos

ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS- None

UNFNISHED BUSINESS-None

NEW BUSINESS

Mayor Hermanek gave a brief summary on the accomplishments of Thomas Gaertner and appointed Mr. Gaertner as Deputy Fire Chief.

Trustee Mengoni moved and Trustee Wilt seconded to concur with the Mayor’s appointment of Thomas Gaertner to the position as Deputy Fire Chief for the Village of North Riverside. Roll Call Vote:

AYES: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Decosola, Mengoni, Wilt 

NAYS: None. Motion carried 

ABSENT: Trustee Demopoulos

AUDIENCE

John Bork thanked the Fire Department and Village Board for the Santa Run in December. He also expressed his concerns at the Costco entrance. Administrator Belmonte addressed his concerns and explained that the Village has been contacting IDOT since it is their responsibility and the issue should be resolved soon.

Barbara Wilson thanked the departments and board members for all their level of commitment.

ADJOURNMENT

Trustee Decosola moved and Trustee Bianco seconded for adjournment at 7:20 pm. Motion carried unanimously.
