The guest speaker for Dominican University’s inaugural lecture of the newly developed Georgia Anne Geyer Initiative has been announced.
On Nov. 14, the university will welcome highly regarded journalist, academic and author Marvin Kalb. The award- winning journalist will present a lecture titled “The Foreign Correspondent—Here, There and Everywhere” in the Martin Recital Hall of the Fine Arts Building at 7 p.m. with a reception and book signing held afterwards.
For more than 30 years, Kalb has told the stories of people and organizations around the world for CBS News and NBC News. He filled the role of Moscow bureau chief and hosted one of the top news programs, “Meet the Press.” Currently, Kalb serves as senior advisor at the Pulitzer Center for Crisis Reporting and is a senior fellow with the Foreign Policy program at the Brookings Institution.
News viewers can still catch Kalb as a regular news analyst for Fox News, America Abroad and National Public Radio. He also hosts a monthly forum on ethics and responsibility in media, called The Kalb Report, at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.
Kalb will delve into the role of a foreign correspondent, whose purpose is to be the link between happenings in the world and readers and news viewers. The lecture will touch on the correspondent’s value to a successful democracy.
