1. Roll Call: 7:06 PM by President Cathy Kuratko. Present were President Cathy Kuratko, Secretary Demitrus Evans, Treasurer Jerry Chenski, Trustee Heather Susnik. Also Present: Director Fidencio Marbella, Assistant Director Bonnie Schwanz and Business Manager Allison Muzal. Absent: Vice-President John Lamberti and Trustees Jenice Hampton and Sandy Laszkiewicz

A. Abatement and Replacement of the Entire Floor in Staff Workroom and Tech Services with new floor tile
This was explored because asbestos was found and will require some abatement. Condition of flooring found to be in not that great of shape, so as long as we are doing some abatement/tile removal we should look at total replacement cost. The cost would be $7255 v $2500 for part of floor which was first included. About $5,000 more and then additional for tiles. This is the lowest quote for the abatement. We got four of them originally from the construction manager and this was the lowest, so they went back to Cove Remediation for the abatement. Major part of the expense is for Cook County fees which are almost as much as the entire abatement. $1700 for the air testing company which monitors the air inside and outside.
Total $7255-$2500 +3302 =$8,057 in addition We did not want to overlay because of unevenness of the floor and would still require some abatement.
Entire project was to be about $240,000. We had about $18,000 slack. Not over in other areas. The timelines will change.
We only got one tile quote, went back to the same company, $2,000. The color could change and not be the same that is there now. We will not back order.
The staff room has never been remodeled. Since we are in a good financial position it makes sense to just do it right and get all the asbestos abated. Something in the future which may have been minor could become major because of the asbestos, so this is our opportunity to take care of it.
Motion made by President Cathy Kuratko $8,057 to remove all the floor tiles and abate the asbestos and add new titles to floor, 2nd by Trustee Heather Susnik.- Approved, 4 ayes, 0 nay, 3 absent.
B. Replacement of Ceiling Tile in Staff Work Room and Tech Services with New Title $2769.30
A suggestion to wait until next year’s remodeling of the Circulation area to replace the work room and Tech Services ceiling tiles was rejected. The replacement will only take a day so there will not be a significant impact on the project timeline.
Motion by Treasure Jerry Chenski to replace ceiling tile for $2769.30, 2nd Secretary Demitrus Evans – approved, 4 ayes, 0 nay, 3 absent.
