The public is invited to attend the 55th Street Road Construction Project public hearing 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday.
The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will host the meeting at the Pleasantview Fire Protection District, 1970 W. Plainfield Road, La Grange Highlands.
The project consists of road improvements to 55th Street between Wolf Road and Brainard Ave. in Countryside, Western Springs, La Grange and unincorporated La Grange Highlands. Among the anticipated improvements are widening and resurfacing 55th Street, adding a right-turn lane at Willow Springs Road, adding pedestrian and bicycle access, improving drainage and replacing traffic signals.
During the meeting, project team members will be available to answer questions and discuss the displays illustrating the project. In addition, a court reporter will record verbal comments from the public.
Written comments also will be accepted at the meeting, by mail or email as part of the official record. Mail written comments to the Illinois Department of Transportation, 201 W.
