The Cook County Gun Violence Task Force will hold a public hearing at 10 a.m. today at the Cook County Building's Board Room, 118 N. Clark Street, with several law enforcement officials present to provide the latest information on gun violence in the county.
The hearing will open with testimony on gun-violence data from the University of Chicago Crime Lab and the Cook County Sheriff's Office's Justice Institute, followed by findings on gun violence from the Chicago Police Department, the Lake County, Indiana, Sheriff's Office and the Cook County Sheriff's Office.
Officials from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; the Illinois State Police; and the Illinois Department of Corrections will testify on policies, data and processes.
Each round of testimony will include a question-and-answer session with the witnesses.
