Proviso Township Board met Sept. 2

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

1) CALL TO ORDER

The Board of Town Trustees of the Town of Proviso met at the Office of the Township Clerk, 4565 Harrison Street, Hillside, IL 60162 on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

2) ROLL CALL

Supervisor Corrigan called the meeting to order at 5:31 p.m. on a roll call the following responded: Trustees Olson, Christopher, Chavez, Chase and Supervisor Corrigan.

Also present were Clerk Williams, Assessor Zawaski and Attorney Mike R. Durkin.

3) PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Supervisor Corrigan led the board in the Pledge of Allegiance.

4) APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Trustee Chavez moved, seconded by Trustee Christopher, that the Board of Trustees approve the minutes of the Township Board Meeting held on August 19, 2025.

Ayes: Trustees Olson, Christopher, Chavez, Chase and Supervisor Corrigan.

Nays: None

Absent: None

5) APPROVAL OF BILLS

Trustee Chase moved, seconded by Trustee Chavez, that the Board of Trustees approve payment of the bills submitted for August 15, 2025 – August 31, 2025

Nays: None

6) ATTORNEY’ REPORT

None

7) CLOSED SESSION

None 

8) OLD BUSINESS

A. Supervisor’s Report – Warrants for July were approved. Handyman report for August 2025 and 104th Illinois General Assembly read. Tuckpointing and canopy work has begun on the Hillside building. Employee Appreciation Day will be held at the Bellwood location on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 12-4pm. All are invited.

B. Clerk’s Report – Clerk Williams read the report to the Trustees.

C. Trustee’s Report – Bridging the Gap Parade will be held September 13, 2025. The Township has a float that will be leaving Maywood Dr to 25th to Proviso East. Mike will be speaking.

D. Elected Officials Report – Open for Board of Review October 7, 2025. There are 50-60 inquiries per day.

E. Staff Report – Jorge and Lindida gave their report for Senior Day. 487 people attended. It was very successful. The Township received many thank you letters. Multiple local businesses donated goods and services. Speaker of the House Chris Welch, Proviso Township Trustees Evelyn Chavez, Tommy Olson, Joe Christopher, along with Cook County Commissioner Frank J. Aguilar were in attendance.

9) NEW BUSINESS

A. Consideration to approve specific personnel matters requiring board action.

None

10) PUBLIC PARTICIPATION

None

11) ADJOURNMENT

Trustee Olson moved, seconded by Trustee Chase, so that the Board of Trustees adjourns the meeting at 5:49 pm.
