Final paving work on Brookfield Avenue, part of the Grand Boulevard/Brookfield Avenue Street Improvement Project, is scheduled to begin Tuesday, September 23 and continue through Wednesday, September 24. The contractor prepared the road surface for this final asphalt layer on Monday.
The paving will proceed east from Prairie Avenue. Flaggers will be present to manage traffic during construction. Both commuter and street parking will be affected as the work progresses.
On Tuesday, September 23, the contractor will install the final asphalt layer from Prairie Avenue to Hollywood Avenue. Parking in this area will not be available between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., but access will be restored once work is complete.
On Wednesday, September 24, paving operations will move from Hollywood Avenue to Woodside Avenue, Parkview, Golf, and Washington. Parking restrictions during these hours will again apply until the area reopens after completion each day.
The crossing at Hollywood Avenue is expected to be impacted for approximately 20 to 30 minutes in the afternoon—likely between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.—with flaggers directing traffic away during that period. Vehicles should be able to use the crossing in the morning with delays mainly anticipated later in the day.
