The Cook County Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Animal and Rabies Control (ARC) are collaborating with Chicago Animal Care and Control and South Suburban Humane Society to offer free rabies and distemper vaccine and microchip clinics for dogs owned by military veterans and current service members in the county.

Three Vets and Pets clinics are scheduled this year. The first will take place on Saturday, August 30, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Kedzie Armory, located at 1515 N. Kedzie Ave., Chicago. This event is held in partnership with Chicago Animal Care and Control.

A second clinic is planned for Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Crestwood Armory, 13838 S. Springfield Ave., Robbins, IL, in collaboration with South Suburban Humane Society.

The third clinic will return to Kedzie Armory on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., again partnering with Chicago Animal Care and Control.

Each clinic is open to the first 100 dogs on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees must bring proof of military status such as a DD214 paired with photo identification, veteran ID or common access card. All dogs must be leashed.

This marks the third year of the Vets and Pets program.
