Mosquito abatement district schedules spraying in Western Springs due to West Nile concerns

Adult mosquito control measures are scheduled for the evening of Thursday, August 7, in several communities including Western Springs. The Desplaines Valley Mosquito Abatement District (DVMAD) announced that operations will take place between 8:15 p.m. and midnight, depending on weather conditions.

The targeted areas include Broadview (south of Cermak Road), Burr Ridge (north of I-55 and east of County Line Road), Countryside (west of Willow Springs Road), Indian Head Park (north of I-55), La Grange (north of Ogden Avenue), La Grange Park, Western Springs, and parts of unincorporated Lyons Township (north of Joliet Road and west of Willow Springs Road).

The action is being taken in response to increased levels of West Nile Virus detected in the region. The DVMAD has provided further details on its website.

"Due to elevated levels of West Nile Virus, adult mosquito control operations are planned for Thursday, August 7th, between the hours of 8:15 pm and midnight, weather permitting, for all areas within the villages of Broadview (South of Cermak Rd.), Burr Ridge (North of I-55 and East of County Line Rd.), Countryside (West of Willow Springs Rd.), Indian Head Park (North of I-55), La Grange (North of Ogden Ave.), La Grange Park, Western Springs, and unincorporated Lyons Township (North of Joliet Rd. and West of Willow Springs Rd.)."
