Village of Lyons Library hosts Independence Day celebration with parade and fireworks

The Village of Lyons Library invites the community to celebrate Independence Day on Friday, July 4th. The event will feature a parade, live entertainment, family activities, food and craft vendors, and a fireworks display.

The day's festivities will commence with a parade at 1 PM starting from 46th St. & Lawndale Ave., proceeding east on 46th St. to Joliet Ave., and concluding north at the Lyons Fire Station.

At 4 PM, the celebration will continue with a party in Veterans Park. Entertainment includes performances by Barefoot Hawaiian Dancers from 4:30 to 5:15 PM, followed by a Kids Watermelon Eating Contest at 5:30 PM. Musical acts include Vintage Vinyl at 6 PM and Whiskey Friends at 8 PM.

Fireworks will mark the end of the day’s celebrations at dusk.

Registration for the Kids Watermelon Eating Contest or participation in dancing with the Hawaiian dancers can be completed at Veterans Park during the event. Interested participants may also register in person at the library, by phone, or via direct message to the Library’s Facebook page with their name, age, and a parent/guardian's email address.
