Asbestos abatement is scheduled to take place at Oak Park and River Forest High School, starting June 3, 2025. The work will involve the removal of asbestos from floor tiles, mastic, lab tops, pipe insulation, wall boards, and fume hoods.

The process will be conducted following the regulations set by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Illinois Department of Public Health. "At no time will the work pose a hazard to the students at staff," assured Jeff Bergmann, Director of Construction.

Before reopening for occupancy, all areas involved in the abatement will undergo evaluation and sampling. The school community is thanked for their patience and cooperation during this period.
