New decals have been installed on sidewalks in the Central Business District, reminding residents to "Walk Your Wheels" in the area for safety reasons. Visitors are advised to comply with regulations and park bikes in available racks, ensuring they are securely locked.

A new e-bike ordinance has been introduced in Western Springs. The updated Title 7, Chapter 6 of the Western Springs Village Code lays out rules for low-speed electric bicycles, scooters, and personal mobility devices (PMDs). These are defined by speed, weight, and motor power with exceptions for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Class 1 to Class 3 e-bikes, which must be pedal-assisted and not exceed 28 mph with assistance, are allowed in the village. They must also have less than 750 watts of power. Class 3 e-bikes require operators to wear helmets and be at least 16 years old.

Residents are encouraged to register their bikes and e-bikes with the village for inspection and tracking. Operators are required to follow traffic laws, ride safely, use the necessary lights, brakes, and signals, and park devices in designated areas. Riding in the downtown district is restricted, and violations are subject to both state and local enforcement. There is additional parental responsibility for minors with access to these devices.

Further details can be found by reviewing Ordinance Number 25-3254 on the Western Springs Village website or by contacting the Western Springs Police Department.
