On March 6, 2025, Congressman García supported Representative Al Green's stance against proposed cuts by former President Trump. He tweeted: ".@RepAlGreen is right! Trump has no mandate to cut critical programs Americans rely on."

Later that day, he addressed plans involving former President Trump and Elon Musk. In his tweet from March 6, 2025, García criticized their efforts: "Trump and Musk are advancing plans to close field and hearing offices and cut SSA staff to ensure the wealthiest 1% get more tax breaks. Democrats are fighting to stop the closure of field offices, protect your private data, and demand answers from the administration."
