On March 5, 2025, García expressed his condolences over the death of Representative Sylvester Turner. He described Turner as "one of Houston’s greatest champions from mayor to Member of Congress." He also extended his sympathies to Turner's family and loved ones. "I’m saddened to hear of the passing of Rep. Sylvester Turner. He was one of Houston’s greatest champions from mayor to Member of Congress."
Later that day, García criticized certain practices at DOGE under Elon Musk's leadership. He claimed that some employees were receiving substantial salaries while allegedly engaging in actions detrimental to federal workers and government programs. "Some of Elon’s minions at DOGE are collecting $200,000 salaries while they fire and harass federal workers and slash government programs that benefit everyone."
In another tweet on March 5, 2025, García commented on political priorities regarding diversity initiatives and legal infractions among Republicans. His statement implied criticism toward Republican attitudes towards diversity and inclusion efforts compared to their handling of other issues like driving under the influence (DUI). "Republicans reject DEI, but don’t mind DUIs."
