On March 3, 2025, Congressman García expressed his sorrow over the death of former Congressman Lincoln Díaz-Balart. In his message, he highlighted Díaz-Balart's dedication to immigrant communities and his role as the author of significant legislation. "I’m saddened to hear of the passing of former Congressman Lincoln Díaz-Balart. He was a dedicated advocate for the immigrant community, and author of the Nicaraguan Adjustment and Central American Relief Act (NACARA). My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones."

Later that day, García joined fellow Democrats in opposing proposed cuts to essential social welfare programs. On March 3, 2025, he tweeted about this collective stance against reductions in Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid benefits.
