On February 6, 2025, Congressman García expressed concern over the potential appointment of Russell Vought as Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). He stated, "We already know how dangerous Russell Vought would be to our families and country as OMB Director. The author of Project 2025 gave us a glimpse of his anti-worker and anti-family views just last week as he led a federal funding freeze."
On February 7, 2025, García paid tribute to a friend named Linda. In his words, "My friend, Linda, embodied the power of courage and resilience. Her life is a testament to what can be achieved when one is driven by strength and conviction. May she rest in peace."
The following day, on February 8, 2025, Congressman García praised the work of the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR). He acknowledged their efforts by stating, "For decades, ICIRR has ensured that immigrants – regardless of status – have access to resources, protections, and opportunities to thrive.
