Pet owners in Cook County can benefit from a discount on spay and neuter services throughout February. The County's Department of Animal and Rabies Control (ARC) is offering this program as part of National Spay and Neuter Awareness Month.
Eligible residents can receive up to a $40 discount for spaying or neutering their pets at participating veterinary clinics from February 1 to 28. To qualify, pet owners must reside in Cook County, though no coupon is necessary. It is advised that residents confirm the participation of their chosen veterinarian before scheduling an appointment.
The initiative aims to address animal overpopulation issues. "According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, approximately 6.3 million companion animals enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide and around 920,000 shelter animals are euthanized each year." By offering this program, ARC seeks to reduce unwanted litters within the county.
Further details about the program can be found on Cook County's official website at www.cookcountyil.gov/service/spay-and-neuter-program.
