Jesús "Chuy" García, a U.S. Congressman representing Illinois' 4th district since 2019, shared his views on several significant issues through a series of tweets posted on January 23, 2025. Known for his active political career, García replaced former Congress member Luis Gutiérrez and has served in various capacities including the Illinois Senate and the Cook County Board of Commissioners.

On January 23, 2025, García expressed his disapproval regarding the approval of a legislative act known as the Laken Riley Law. He stated: "Mí declaración después de votar en contra de la aprobación final de la Ley Laken Riley https://t.co/yfjOWb0QOX".

Later that day, he addressed concerns about immigration enforcement practices at sensitive locations. In his tweet, he argued: "It is dangerous to allow immigration enforcement in sensitive locations. Children and families should go to school, seek health care, and worship with peace of mind and without fear. This is a cruel abuse of power."

In another statement made on the same date, García reiterated a constitutional principle regarding citizenship by birthright in the United States: "The Constitution is clear: if you're born in the United States, you're an American."
