Residents of the Village will have an opportunity to participate in a virtual open house regarding the upcoming referendum on Thursday, January 23, at 5:30 pm. The referendum, scheduled for April 1, will ask residents to consider funding critical infrastructure projects, including roads, totaling $45 million over the next decade.
The Village has historically used referenda to finance roadway projects. Previous bonds approved in 2008 and 2016 have been exhausted, necessitating new funding for essential infrastructure improvements.
Village officials encourage residents to attend one of the open house meetings to discuss current infrastructure needs, funding history, proposed projects, and potential impacts. Attendees will have the chance to speak with Village staff and ask questions.
The initial meeting will be held virtually on January 23 at 5:30 pm. It will feature a presentation followed by a Q&A session with Deputy Village Manager Casey Biernacki and Director of Finance John Mastandona.
Additional in-person meetings are planned for February 11 at Thomas Ford Memorial Library from 6 – 8 pm and March 13 at a time and location yet to be determined.
