The Village of Riverside is set to auction its retired street signs in two phases next year as part of the celebration for the Village's Sesquicentennial. The first phase of the online auction will run from January 20 to February 3, 2025, featuring a total of 48 street signs. Notable streets included in this round are Riverside Rd, Scottswood Rd, and Bloomingbank Rd.

The auction will commence on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., and conclude on Monday, February 3, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. The auction will be conducted on iBid (State of Illinois Online Auction) accessible via https://ibid.illinois.gov/. The starting bid for each sign is set at $300.

Participants interested in bidding must create an account on the State of Illinois Online Auction platform before they can submit bids. Instructions for creating an account are available in the FAQ section provided by the Village.

The inventory for the January auction includes signs from various roads such as Arlington Rd (1), Barrypoint Rd (5), Blackhawk Rd (1), and others up to Scottswood Rd (8). Bidders can place their bids starting January 20th with minimum increments of $10 above the initial bid.

Upon conclusion of the auction on February 3rd, winning bidders will receive an automated email from iBid followed by additional instructions from the Village regarding payment and sign pick-up details. Sign collection is scheduled between February 14th and February 28th at Village Hall. Winners need to present a government-issued ID when collecting their signs. Alternatively, winners residing outside town may choose to have their signs mailed at their own expense.

If any winner fails to claim or pick up their sign by February 28th at 4:30 p.m., they will forfeit their win. In such cases, the next highest bidder will be contacted and given two weeks to claim the sign.
