Jesús "Chuy" García, a U.S. Congressman representing Illinois' 4th district, shared several updates and statements via social media in early December 2024. His communications covered topics from celebrating Illinois' statehood to addressing disaster assistance and immigration issues.

On December 3, 2024, García commemorated the anniversary of Illinois' statehood with a celebratory message. "Happy 206th birthday to the great state of Illinois! As the Member for Illinois' 4th congressional district, I’m proud to be able to represent part of our vibrant, diverse and inclusive state in Congress."

The following day, on December 4, García addressed constituents affected by severe storms earlier that year. He provided guidance on FEMA disaster assistance appeals: "Attention #IL04: if you have applied for FEMA disaster assistance following the severe storms in July and disagree with FEMA’s decision, you have within 60 days to appeal. For assistance with the appeal process or any questions, please contact the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362."

Later that day, García joined efforts calling for the closure of an immigration detention center in California. He tweeted about his participation with a coalition advocating for this cause: "I joined the Shut Down Adelanto Coalition and my colleagues in urging DHS and ICE to permanently close the Adelanto ICE Processing Center in CA. These centers, operated by private corporations, focus solely on profit and routinely deny detainees basic humane treatment."
