FOIA Request to City of Berwyn Regarding New and Active Residential and Commercial Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
West Cook News, a media organization dedicated to comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, has submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the City of Berwyn. The request was made for records pertaining to all new residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023, until the present date.
The specific details requested include the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address where the permit is applicable, and contractor's name. Furthermore, West Cook News also requested information about all active residential and commercial building permits along with their current status.
As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe that access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
