The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has launched the next phase of its Move Illinois: the 2024 Long-Range Transportation Plan. This initiative aims to define strategic goals, objectives, and strategies for Illinois' transportation network over the coming two to three decades.
This effort is part of a multi-phase project extending into 2025. The initial phase focused on conducting transportation studies and engaging with the public to identify preferences for transportation goal areas. In this current phase, IDOT is concentrating on potential actions and strategies that will be incorporated into the plan.
Residents are encouraged to participate by providing feedback through a survey and staying updated via an online meeting at www.moveil2024lrtp.com. The project team collaborates with residents, business owners, and transportation professionals statewide within an advisory group.
This group integrates transportation expertise with community input gathered during each phase to shape the goals, objectives, and strategies of the Long-Range Transportation Plan.
