Proviso Township Board met Aug. 5

Here is the agenda provided by the board:

1) CALL TO ORDER

The Board of Town Trustees of the Town of Proviso met at the Office of the Township Clerk, 4565 Harrison Street, Hillside, IL 60162 on Monday, August 5, 2024.

2) ROLL CALL

Supervisor Corrigan called the meeting to order at 5:34 p.m. on a roll call the following responded: Trustees Christopher, Chavez, Chase and Supervisor Corrigan.

Also present were Clerk Williams, Assessor Zawaski and Attorney Durkin Jr. Trustee Thomas was absent.

3) PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Supervisor Corrigan led the board in the Pledge of Allegiance.

4) APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Trustee Chase moved, seconded by Trustee Chavez, that the Board of Trustees approve the minutes of the Township Board Meeting held on July 1, 2024.

Ayes: Trustees Christopher, Chavez, Chase and Supervisor Corrigan.

Nays: None

Absent: Trustee Thomas

5) APPROVAL OF BILLS

Supervisor Corrigan moved, seconded by Trustee Christopher, that the Board of Trustees approve payment of the bills submitted for July 1, 2024 – July 31, 2024

6) ATTORNEY’ REPORT

None

A. Supervisor’s Report – Warrants for June 2024. Handyman report for July 2024 and 103rd Illinois General Assembly given to Trustees for review. New Mental Health Commission member. Berkeley’s Centennial Parade is on August 11, 2024.

B. Clerk’s Report – None

C. Trustee’s Report – Taste of Bellwood August 9-11. Trustee Chase

D. Elected Officials Report – 1840 people came into file appeals. Outreach in Bellwood on August 15th

E. Staff Report – None

9) NEW BUSINESS

A. Consideration to approve specific personnel matters requiring board action.

None

B. Trustee Chavez moved, seconded by Trustee Christopher, that the Board authorize the Township Supervisor to Hire a Full-Time Employee for the Proviso Township Transportation Department.

C. Trustee Christopher moved, seconded by Trustee Chavez, that the Board approve to Certify the Submission of an Advisory Question of Public Policy to the Electors of Proviso Township at the General Election to be held on November 5, 2024, on Whether to Adopt an Independent Citizens’ Commission for the Redistricting Process.

D. Trustee Chase moved, seconded by Trustee Chavez, that the Board approve and authorize the Purchase of a Honda Odyssey for the Proviso Township Transportation Department.

E. Trustee Chase moved, seconded by Trustee Chavez, that the Board Advise and Consent to the Appointment of a Commissioner to the Proviso Township Mental Health Commission.
