Riverside announces schedule for annual Independence Day festivities

The Village of Riverside's annual Independence Day festivities will commence with the July 3rd Concert in the Park.

July 3rd Schedule:

1:00 p.m. - Street closures begin

5:00 p.m. - Guthrie Park opens to the public

5:30 p.m. - Opening Ceremony featuring Village President Doug Pollock and National Anthem by Jennifer and Madeline Pollock

5:40 p.m. - Music with DJ Maximus

7:00 p.m. - Infinity takes the Guthrie Park Stage

10:00 p.m. - Concert concludes

Concert Details:

Street closures will start at 1:00 p.m. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from La Barra, Riverside Foods with Buckledown Brewery, Empanadus, and Topical Sno. Patrons are also welcome to bring their own food and beverages. Alcoholic beverages may not leave Guthrie Park. No dogs or bikes will be allowed inside the park.

July 4th Schedule:

6:15 a.m. - Street closures begin

6:30 a.m. - Last chance 5k registration in Guthrie Park

7:30 a.m. - 45th Annual Independence Day 5k Race begins

8:45 a.m. - Independence Day Parade starts at Big Ball Park

10:00 a.m. - Festival in the Park begins in Guthrie Park

11:00 a.m. - Tot Trot

1:00 p.m. - Festival ends

5k Details:

Online registration will remain available until Tuesday, July 2nd at 5:00 p.m., and Race Day registration will be available Thursday morning from 6:30 to 7:15 a.m. The fee for Race Day registration is $40. Awards will follow the conclusion of the race in Centennial Park near the Water Tower.

Parade Details:

The parade will begin at Big Ball Park and head south down Longcommon Rd., ending at Guthrie Park. Spectators are encouraged to find spots along the parade route but must stay off the street for safety reasons.

Festival Details:

The festival will take place in Guthrie Park following the parade, featuring brats, lemonade, and more.

"We'd like to thank our generous sponsors Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Flood Brothers Disposal, and Star Buds," organizers stated, adding gratitude for "the McDonalds of Lyons for their generous in-kind donations."

Organizers look forward to seeing attendees on July 3rd and 4th.
