The Cook County Board of Commissioners has approved funding for transportation-related projects under the County’s Department of Transportation and Highways (DoTH). These initiatives aim to boost economic development, enhance regional transportation, and improve the quality of life across Cook County.

In Justice, $25,819,361.29 has been allocated for the construction of a new interchange with I-294 at Cork Avenue/88th Avenue. This project is expected to unlock economic opportunities and provide direct access to the Illinois Tollway’s newly improved Central Tri-State Tollway Project.

Countywide, $2,500,000 will be used for professional quality control and quality assurance services. These services include material testing, inspection, coordination, documentation, and investigation of existing conditions associated with construction projects.

In Harwood Heights, $385,000 has been designated for the reconstruction of Ainslie Street from Harlem Avenue to Oriole Avenue. The project will also add new bike lanes along the corridor.
