City of Northlake City Council met May 6

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.

Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL:

PRESENT: ALDERMAN STRAUBE

ALDERMAN FELDMANN

ALDERMAN SOSA

ALDERMAN JOHNSON

ALDERMAN GROCHOWSKI

ALDERMAN PATTI

PRESENT VIA CONFERENCE BRIDGE: ALDERMAN CONTRERAS

ALDERMAN URBINA

OTHERS PRESENT: TERRY BANEY, DEPUTY CHIEF OF POLICE

MARK RAIL, PUBLIC WORKS

KEVIN STERK, CITY ATTORNEY

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve Alderman Contreras participating in the meeting via conference bridge; seconded by Alderman Sosa. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.

Mayor Sherwin presented the minutes of the city council meeting held on April 15, 2024. Alderman Patti made a motion to accept the minutes of the city council meeting held on April 15, 2024; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin asked if there were any additions or corrections.

Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.

MOTION TO ACCEPT THE MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON APRIL 15, 2024 CARRIED

Mayor Sherwin presented a motion to reappoint Sheila Morgan to the Youth Commission. Alderman Patti made a motion to approve; seconded by Alderman Feldmann. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL: ALDERMEN STRAUBE, FELDMANN, CONTRERAS, SOSA, JOHNSON, URBINA, GROCHOWSKI AND PATTI

NAYS: NONE

MOTION TO REAPPOINT SHEILA MORGAN TO THE YOUTH COMMISSION CARRIED

Alderman Patti made a motion to accept the Warrants and Vouchers; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL: ALDERMEN STRAUBE, FELDMANN, CONTRERAS, SOSA, JOHNSON, URBINA, GROCHOWSKI AND PATTI

NAYS: NONE

MOTION TO ACCEPT THE WARRANTS AND VOUCHERS CARRIED

Mayor Sherwin noted that the infrastructure work has begun on Prater Avenue; Alderman Feldmann reminded everyone that the Leyden Health Fair and the Police Department open house will both take place on Saturday, May 18th; and Alderman Grochowski wished everyone a Happy Mother’s Day.

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve Ordinance O-11-2024; An Ordinance Regulating Bingo and Amending Title 3 of the Northlake City Code; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL: ALDERMEN STRAUBE, FELDMANN, CONTRERAS, SOSA, JOHNSON, URBINA, GROCHOWSKI AND PATTI

NAYS: NONE

MOTION TO APPROVE ORDINANCE O-11-2024; AN ORDINANCE REGULATING BINGO AND AMENDING TITLE 3 OF THE NORTHLAKE CITY CODE CARRIED

Alderman Straube made a motion to approve the purchase of a 2024 F150 4x4 in the amount of $49,173.00 for Public Works; seconded by Alderman Patti. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL: ALDERMEN STRAUBE, FELDMANN, CONTRERAS, SOSA, JOHNSON, URBINA, GROCHOWSKI AND PATTI

NAYS: NONE

MOTION TO APPROVE THE PURCHASE OF A 2024 F150 4X4 IN THE AMOUNT OF $49,173.00 FOR PUBLIC WORKS CARRIED

A resident had questions about the bingo license ordinance; a resident had concerns about damage to his landscape waste containers.

There being no further business, Alderman Straube made a motion to adjourn; seconded by Alderman Patti. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.

MOTION TO ADJOURN CARRIED
