Residents in the Village's waste collection program have the opportunity to participate in a Household Hazardous Waste Home Collection initiative, with no additional charge for the service. The deadline for sign-ups is 5:00 PM on May 31, 2024. Those interested can expect to be contacted with the scheduled date of collection, which is available twice a year. The upcoming collection is set for October 2024.

Submitting a request for the collection is a quick and easy online process, as highlighted by the statement, "Submitting a request is done online and takes only a few minutes." Once the request is submitted, individuals can anticipate being contacted within 5 business days to confirm the collection date.

For safety measures, materials must be placed in the front of the home near the front door by 7 AM on the collection day. It is important to note that collection does not occur in the alley due to the nature of the materials involved.

The accepted household hazardous waste items range from aerosols, auto chemicals, and bug spray to fluorescent bulbs, gasoline, and household cleaners. The list includes various other items like lead acid batteries, spray paint enamel, pool chemicals, and urethane.

This initiative aims to provide residents with a convenient and environmentally responsible method of disposing of hazardous waste materials. Participants are encouraged to take advantage of this service by signing up before the May 31 deadline.
