Metra will conduct Operation Lifesaver Safety Blitzes at 47 train stations across the six-county region in 2024 as part of its ongoing efforts to raise awareness about the importance of safe behavior around its trains and tracks. The safety blitzes aim to educate passengers on train and grade crossing safety while addressing their safety concerns.
During these safety blitzes, as stated by a Metra spokesperson, "Metra employees will visit one of the railroad’s 242 stations during the morning rush hour, distributing educational materials about train and grade crossing safety, answer questions, and listen to riders’ safety concerns."
One of the upcoming Operation Lifesaver events is scheduled to take place in Western Springs on Tuesday, July 23. This initiative underscores Metra's commitment to ensuring the safety of both passengers and pedestrians around train tracks.
