Village of Franklin Park Fire & Police Commission met Nov. 6.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

Call to order: The meeting for the Fire & Police Commission was called to order by Commissioner Maritza Souchet at 6:00 pm.

Roll Call / Quorum: Present is Commissioner Maritza Souchet, Commissioner Irene Herrera, Commissioner Guillermo Rios and Secretary Dinorah Rangel. Also in attendance, Chief Mark Stewart, Police Chief Mike Witz, and Trustee Bill Ruhl.

Approval of Minutes: A motion to approve the October 2, 2023 meeting minutes was made by Commissioner Souchet and seconded by Commissioner Herrera. Motion passed.

Communications: 

Fire Chief Stewart:. Signed contract with Fire & Police for testing for lieutenant test. There are three eligible candidates who are taking the test. December 9th is the oral assessment and January 29th the written. As of December 1st, open new recruitment testing for four openings available and keep written test open for one month and close at the end of December. Oral interviews will be conducted the same way. This saved money and gave the department a better idea of who was being hired. We still have time to decide if we want Cops and Fire to handle. Only using Cops and fire for background and Polygraphy for new recruit's test. Request to go into executive session 6:07 pm.

Police Chief Mike Witz:. Retired cop Skip Twardosz passed away. He served from 1979 to 1999 for a total of 20 years. He was 77 years old and is survived by his wife. Office Auriel Paying resigned effective November 11th. He accepted a position with the Chicago Police Department. Applicant Melissa Figueroa had her license issue resolved and is putting in her medical paperwork. She will complete her power test at the end of the month and will start the academy in January. Orals will be done on Sunday, November 12th at 9 am and 10 am.

Trustee Ruhl: Congratulated the First Department on their Open House and a thank you to the firefighters who volunteered their time on their off time. The firefighter had a call for a cardiac arrest and wants to thank the those who responded in a timely manner.

New Business: Motion made by Commissioner Souchet to go into executive session at 6:07, seconded by Commissioner Herrera, all in favor. Motion to come out of executive session made by Commissioner Souchet at 6:15, seconded by Commissioner Rios, all in favor.

Adjournment: Motion to adjourn at 6:17 pm made by Commissioner Maritza Souchet and seconded by Commissioner Herrera with all in favor.
