Village of Franklin Park Fire & Police Commission met June 5.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

Call to order: The meeting for the Fire & Police Commission was called to order by Commissioner Maritza Souchet at 6:00 pm.

Roll Call / Quorum: Present is Commissioner Maritza Souchet, Commissioner Irene Herrera, Commissioner Guillermo Rios and Secretary Margarita Whaley. Also in attendance are Director of Police Mike Witz, Battalion Chief Nick Steker, incoming Secretary Dinorah Rengel and Trustee Bill Ruhl.

Approval of Minutes: A motion to approve the May 1, 2023 meeting minutes was made by Commissioner Souchet and seconded by Commissioner Herrera. Motion passed.

Communications: 

Director of Police Witz: Asked Commission to go into executive session for Sergeant Promotion. Officer Joe O'Conner is retiring

Battalion Chief Steker: We will be posting the final eligibility list for fire and backgrounds will begin. Firefighter/EMT Tommy Thomson will be retiring.

Unfinished Business: None

New Business: Motion made to by Commissioner Souchet to go into executive session at 6:06, seconded by Commissioner Herrera, all in favor. Motion to come out of executive session made by Commissioner Souchet at 6:08, seconded by Commissioner Herrera, all in favor. Motion was made by Commissioner Souchet to promote Officer Todd Morin to Sergeant, with a second by Commissioner Herrera, all in favor.

Adjournment: Motion to adjourn at 6:08 pm made by Commissioner Souchet and seconded by Commissioner Herrera with all in favor.
