Sean Morrison, Commissioner of Cook County, is hoping leaders in Springfield may finally be serious about cleaning up corruption.
Morrison recently took to Twitter to comment on Sen. Don Harmon's (D-Oak Park) address to new members of the legislature.
"I hope leader Don Harmon is truly serious and resolute on corruption," Morrison said. "We shall see."
He shared a link to the 19th Ward blog post that covered Harmon's plea for integrity amid charges against current and former members of the legislature, including former longtime House Speaker Mike Madigan.
During Harmon's inauguration speech for newly sworn-in senators, he spoke about doing what's right.
“If you aren’t here to do what’s right for the people of Illinois, I would suggest you take Mr. Rochford’s advice,” Harmon said, referring to former Chicago Police Supt. James Rochford's warning to new officers. He told them that if they lacked integrity, they needed to find another career because those who didn’t meet expectations of how to act would be found out and let go.
“The people of Illinois deserve, better and it is up to us to deliver,” Harmon said.
