GOP activist William Mueller said he is unsurprised by ballot hijinks by Democrats that resulted in improper voting procedures and incorrect ballots in the Nov. 8 election.
“Deanne Mazzochi is one of the very few who understand the scam called voting in Illinois,” Mueller told West Cook News. “The availability of mail-in ballots to anyone and delays in counting create the necessary conditions for Democrat fraud. Until mail-in ballots get controlled, Election Day reverts back to a day (not months), and voter rolls are truly cleaned up, the integrity of the vote in Illinois will continue to be a joke.”
Mueller’s remarks follow a 2022 election that was full of mistakes and oversights.
A court issued a temporary restraining order against the DuPage County clerk on behalf of State Rep. Deanne Mazzochi (R-Elmhurst), who in a petition said the clerk was "improperly using vote by mail applications to validate a voter's signature on a vote by mail ballot." Mazzochi noted the court's decision that by "using a vote by mail application to qualify signatures on the vote by mail ballot itself would be an obvious way to commit ballot fraud," the DuPage Policy Journal reported.
There are other instances of clerk’s offices not stepping up to the challenge of running a fair election. In Schuyler County, Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate Kath Salvi’s name was omitted from the ballot. State Rep. Brad Halbrook (R-Shelbyville) said he had never encountered such a ballot error.
“I have never seen an error of this magnitude on a ballot. This is a serious mistake,” Halbrook told the Chambana Sun. “Absolutely, we should be concerned about this. It is not just the Senate race at stake here. Other races could be affected. What if there is a close local election? What if these ballots are determined to be invalid because of the error? There could be all kinds of repercussions from the mistake made on these ballots. There needs to be a viable solution to correct the error.”
Lastly, three countywide races in Will County flipped to Democrats after 6,400 mail-in ballots were counted a week after the general election.
On election night, Republican challenger Jim Reilly led Democrat incumbent Will County Sheriff Mike Kelley, Republican Joliet Attorney Bob Bodach trailed Democratic incumbent Treasurer Tim Brophy and Republican opponent Raj Pillai trailed Democratic Associate Judge Jessica Colon-Sayre. Such occurrences are fueling calls for election reform. Others questioned the timing of the Democrat vote rise after the Nov. 8 election.
