The Town of Cicero marked the opening of a new business, Encantto D’ Joyas, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 12. Located at 2420 S. Laramie Avenue, this family-owned store specializes in handcrafted silver jewelry imported from Mexico.

The event began at 10:00 a.m. with remarks from Ismael Vargas, Director of the Business License Department. He emphasized the significance of supporting small businesses within the community.

“We are so blessed, so happy,” Vargas stated. “Mom-and-pop shops like this are the heart of our town. They live here, they work here, and they’re helping Cicero thrive.”

Town Clerk Maria Punzo-Arias extended warm wishes on behalf of President Larry Dominick and the Town Board.

“Whatever you need, you know you can count on us,” she assured the owners of Encantto.

Town Assessor Emo Cundari and Trustee John Cava also congratulated the store's owners, highlighting the economic and cultural contributions that small businesses make to communities.

“Stores like this help our neighborhoods grow stronger, provide jobs, and promote stability,” Cundari remarked.

After a countdown, Encantto D’ Joyas was officially opened to applause and cheers.

Store owners Xochitl and Angel Cano expressed their gratitude to God, the Cicero community, and town leadership for enabling their dream.

“I thank the Lord every morning for bringing us here,” Angel Cano said. “We’ve felt nothing but love and support from the people of Cicero.”

Encantto Jewelry offers a variety of handcrafted silver pieces from regions such as Taxco, Guadalajara, Mexico City, and Oaxaca. The store provides jewelry for men, women, children, and even dolls dressed in traditional Mexican attire. Their grand opening includes a 50% discount on all merchandise to showcase their quality offerings.

“We want to bring something different to Cicero,” Angel Cano added. “Jewelry that’s hard to find anywhere else in Chicago.”

Encantto is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., located near Cermak and 26th Street with easy access via public transit.

The addition of Encantto D’ Joyas is seen as a positive development for Cicero's business community.
