Candidate for governor Sen. Darren Bailey (R-Louisville) recently spoke at the Palestinian American Club meeting in Bridgeview.

"This weekend I was honored to join the Palestinian American Club in Bridgeview to hear the concerns of their community, and offer our vision for Restoring Illinois," Bailey said.

In a video released by the Palestinian American Club, during an interview, Bailey encouraged Illinoisans "to learn together, work together, and live together."

“This evening, the American Palestinian Club welcomed the Republican nominee for governor of Illinois, Darren Bailey, in the presence of representatives of various institutions within the Arab American community in the state, along with many community members,” the Palestinian American Club posted on Facebook.

According to the same post, club president Dr. Saqr Abu Naseer noted that the club welcomes all candidates.

Commenters on Bailey's post lauded his presence at the event, for reaching out, and for taking time to connect with the community.

According to his campaign website, "Bailey’s conservative roots run deep." He is "grounded in the conservative values of hard work, individual liberty, and social responsibility.  He knows that these precious freedoms are threatened everyday by big government and powerful career politicians."

His campaign website called Bailey "a proud farmer and a strong advocate for his community and its agricultural roots. He runs on a campaign that is focused on reopening Illinois' economy and schools, protecting the rights of the unborn, advocating for the constitutional right to bear arms, Illinoisans' access to quality education, unburdening families with high taxes, standing up for his fellow hardworking farmers, and working for people and not the political elites."
