Lyons Township High School South sophomore Heavyn Washington has been expelled only days after she brutally attacked a freshman.

A source at the school informed West Cook News of the expulsion.

Washington was reportedly at school Thursday and Friday after the Wednesday incident.

Washington has been a vocal leader in the school’s "equity" efforts.

An accomplice who filmed the attack called the victim a ‘racist ass bitch!’ and heckled her while Washington punched her in the face several times before dragging her across the floor by her hair.

The victim later sought medical attention at an area hospital. She will be undergoing surgery to repair her scalp and jaw. She has a hematoma as well.

The school and police have not commented on whether the attack was race-motivated, as previously reported by West Cook News.

Washington has a history of making racially charged comments and has led protests at the school, some with alleged close-coordination with staff members.

Parents have accused Lyons Township High School Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Director Dr. Jennifer Rowe, who makes $150,000 per year, of destabilizing the school by introducing divisive racially based programming.

Rowe did not respond to a request for comment from West Cook News. However, the school did release a statement in the wake of the incident and before Washington’s expulsion.

"We are reaching out today to share that we are aware of a social media post circulating that shows a student assaulting another student," Principal Jen Tyrrell said in the wake of the incident. "Our team is currently working to investigate the situation, obtain additional information, and support students who have been impacted. Please know we are also collaborating with the Western Springs Police Department as they investigate this incident."

A video of the attack created by West Cook News was taken down by YouTube.

Awake Illinois’s post of the video is up on Facebook.
