Analysis: Lyons administrators rank 21st in state for average pay

Administrators in Lyons Township High School District 204 earn an average of $153,186 per year, ranking 21st out of 864 districts in Illinois, according to a West Cook News analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.

The 2020 average is 10.3 percent higher than in 2016 and 9.2 percent higher than in 2011. District administrators make 37.6 percent more than the state average of $111,293.

Administrator salaries depend on the district's size, location and resources, as well as the individual's level of experience and education, according to the Illinois State Board of Education report.

The Lyons School District in Cook County enrolled 3990 students in 2019-2020. There is an average of 202 students for every administrator, compared to a statewide ratio of 171 to 1.
