Dominican University Athletics Department issued the following announcement on Jan. 26
Dominican University's men's basketball team defeated Rockford University 96-87 at home on Wednesday evening in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC).
DU took a lead at the 16:55 mark in the first half and built a sizeable 13-point advantage by halftime. Rockford and Dominican battled back-and-forth in the second half, but the Stars were able fend off a few late Regent spurts to claim the nine-point win, their first in NACC play.
Jackson Smith led the way with a season-high 29 points, going 11-for-12 from the charity stripe. Jacob Riedl produced 25 points, making three triples, on 9-for-12 shooting from the field. Chris Daniels II also scored over 20 points, finishing with 22 along with six rebounds and three assists. Robert Taylor provided an offensive spark in limited action, scoring 12 points in 12 minutes.
