Women's Basketball Picks up First Win of 2021-22 at Mount Mary

Dominican University issued the following announcement on Nov. 16

Dominican University's women's basketball team notched its first victory of the 2021-22 campaign on Tuesday evening, downing Mount Mary 65-43 on the road in non-conference action.

DU and Mount Mary played a tight first three quarters, with Dominican pulling ahead by 10 at the close of the third quarter. The Stars used a 23-11 fourth quarter to take full control of the game, securing the road win.

Alisha Markley knocked down four triples on her way to 21 points to lead the offensive effort. Kamryn Woods racked up a double-double with 19 points and 15 rebounds, adding one assist and three steals. Alyssa Fahner and Ashley Green were also solid contributors on the boards with eight and six rebounds, respectively.

As a team, the Stars had 16 steals, forcing 27 Mount Mary turnovers. Dominican also poured in 18 second-chance points and had 15 points from its bench. DU will wrap up its four-game road trip to begin the season on Tuesday, Nov. 23, taking on Wheaton at 7 p.m.
