While elementary school students in the Chicago Public Schools will soon return to class, older students across the district continue to have to attend remotely.
Parents of older students are left wondering when their children will ever go back to in-person education.
Pre-kindergarten and some special education students have returned from remote learning after the teachers union and district reached an agreement, WBEZ reported.
In March, elementary students are expected to return to in-person learning as well.
However, there is no set plan for older students throughout most of the Chicago area, not even a hybrid schooling option, WBEZ reported. Only 37% of all area high schools have even set up a hybrid option, and 62% are still fully remote.
Teresa Hayes, the parent of a high-schooler struggling with the lack of direct interactions with teachers, said that she is concerned about the academic outcome of so much time spent learning virtually for her daughter, WBEZ reported.
