Oak Park-River Forest Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Dec. 13.
Join Young Professionals' monthly meet-up to share experiences, meet people facing similar career issues and discuss areas of professional development. Connecting business to business, and business to community.
This month - we're adapting our annual white elephant gift exchange, to go online and to support a local charity! (Please note that Facebook insists on using the wrong event link above; the correct one is https://www.oprfchamber.org/.../chamber-young...)
Our partner is Hephzibah Children's Association. For more than a century, Hephzibah has stayed focused on helping children and families in need, evolving into an agency known for providing exceptional care for those who need it most. Through their programs, Hephzibah helps children to thrive and families to flourish, now and in the future.
They write: "We need LOADS of toys for our Hephzibah kids - those children who live at Hephzibah Home in Oak Park, those in foster families, and those who are with their biological families but need extra support. We are partnering locally with Gepetto's Toy Box and they have a Hephzibah kid's wish list online and in the store. Here is Gepetto's Toy Box wish list: https://geppettostoybox.com/hephzibah-childrens-association
When we gather online (register and you'll received the Zoom link in an auto-response), we'll talk about why we picked the toy we did for a kid at Hephzibah - if it was our favorite toy as a kid, the toy we always wanted but never got, our current favorite toy, whatever. So before our gathering, stop by Geppetto's store or web site and buy a toy from the Hephzibah wish list (take care of it soon, before they're all gone!) and then join the crew online. And we'll just got to hang out on Zoom with great people for an hour or so! Wear your holiday jammies if you want, settle in with a cup of tea or cocoa or coffee, and join us for a fun and relaxing start to your day.
Thanks for supporting a local charity, a local kid, and a local business all at once! That's the holiday spirit
