CITY OF BERWYN: North Shore Clinic Statement Regarding Concerns Over Delayed COVID-19 Tests Results

Medicalnews

City of Berwyn issued the following announcement on Dec. 5.

Northshore Clinical Labs conducted community testing in Berwyn at two events in November. While the execution of the events went well, we did run into some issues in providing the results in a timely fashion. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused the community and those affected by delayed results.

The delay in results was due to many reasons, some of which that were outside of our control – including a regional shortage of materials which is well documented by the media and industry groups including the America Society for Microbiology1 . In addition, results are telephoned to persons to satisfy the large numbers results to review and share. During our registration process, we permitted persons to input their phone numbers to provide us. This led to many phone numbers being illegible and causing issues in contacting the persons.

We have remedied these issues by improving our supplies of necessary materials, and adding layers of verification to ensure data integrity. While some of the issues were outside of our control, we bear the responsibility for causing the delays and frustration to the community.

Please note that every test conducted at a Berwyn testing event has been resulted for some time now. For those who have not received a phone call for test results, please call 713-357-2132 or email CustomerService@Northshoreclinical.com. If you require a hard copy of your results for your job, travel, or for your records please send us an email requesting your results.

Finally, we would like to revisit the city of Berwyn and provide an additional testing event for the community, whereby we can guarantee the results within 48-72 hours. In an effort to remediate the frustration that has been experienced by the community, we do encourage all residents and the community to remain vigilant and continue testing. We applaud the efforts of Berwyn leadership to provide such testing accommodations for the community, and welcome the opportunity to serve you in the manner you expect and deserve.
